LTBA is the ICAO code for İstanbul Atatürk Airport (IATA ISL), located in Bakırköy, Istanbul, 34, Türkiye.
İstanbul Atatürk Airport (LTBA) sat 12 miles west of central Istanbul and was the principal Istanbul commercial airport until 2019, when most commercial operations migrated to the new İstanbul Airport (LTFM). LTBA is now used primarily for cargo and business aviation. The two runways (12,310 ft, 8,907 ft) handle every current business jet. Field elevation 162 ft, no density-altitude concerns. For Istanbul business aviation, LTBA is the typical default given the easier ramp access vs. LTFM's congestion. Ground time to Taksim Square is 30 minutes; Sultanahmet is 35.
Atatürk Airport is a public airport located in Yeşilköy, Istanbul Province, Turkey. Formerly the primary international airport of Istanbul and the hub of Turkish Airlines, it was closed to commercial passenger flights on 6 April 2019. From that point, all commercial scheduled passenger flights were transferred to the new Istanbul Airport. Since the move of commercial operations to the new airport, Atatürk Airport is open to general aviation and functions as an executive airport.
