What is the Midnight Drop on SkyAccess?

Midnight Drop is SkyAccess's feed of empty leg flights whose price was reduced by at least 10% inside the last 24 hours. These are operators actively repricing unsold positioning inventory — the deepest empty-leg discounts on the marketplace at any given moment.

Why do operators drop empty leg prices?

Operators reprice unsold positioning legs as the departure window closes. The aircraft is going to fly the leg empty regardless — anything above marginal positioning cost is contribution margin. Inside the 72-hour window before departure, dropping price is the only lever to convert unsold inventory.

How often do empty leg prices drop?

Repricing happens every day across the marketplace. Operators can set a listing's price to step down as departure approaches, so the same leg can cost less at 24 hours out than at 14 days out, because the alternative is flying empty.

Are price drops temporary or permanent?

Once dropped, the lower price typically holds until the leg is booked or the departure window passes. Some operators re-raise prices if the leg gets last-minute interest, but most don't — the trajectory is downward until clear.
