UTAA is the ICAO code for Ashgabat International Airport (IATA ASB), located in Ashgabat, S, Turkmenistan.
Ashgabat International Airport (UTAA) is a large airport in Ashgabat, S, Turkmenistan. Pilots and dispatchers reference it by ICAO code UTAA or IATA code ASB. It sits in Asia.
Ashgabat International Airport is a commercial-airline hub that also handles a steady stream of private and corporate traffic. Mixed commercial and private operations mean planners should expect slot coordination, handling agent involvement, and the usual international hub procedures.
Ashgabat International Airport sits near sea level at 692 ft.
Local operations run on Asia/Ashgabat. Because the field hosts scheduled airline operations, private operators should expect a defined slot environment, possible CDM coordination at peak banks, and limited ramp availability during major event weekends. Booking FBO ramp space in advance is normal practice.
SkyAccess inventory for UTAA updates continuously as operators publish new empty legs and one-way repositioning trips. Pricing on each leg is available with a free account, and an inventory alert will email you the moment a leg appears on the route you care about.
As one of the larger fields in Turkmenistan, UTAA tends to be the natural choice for long-range international charters and crew-rest-required flights.
Ashgabat International Airport, formerly known as Saparmyrat Türkmenbaşy International Airport, is one of five international airports in Turkmenistan. It is located within the city limits of Ashgabat. The old airport, with its air traffic control tower and a 3,700-metre-long (12,000 ft) precision approach runway (12L-30R), opened in 1994 and was named after the country's first president, Saparmyrat Nyýazow. The new airport terminal opened in September 2016, after being completely redesigned and rebuilt and after the south runway was moved and lengthened to parallel the north runway.
