The Hawker 800 is a mid-size corporate aircraft developed from the British Aerospace BAe 25 by Hawker Beechcraft. The Hawker 800A is the first of the Series 800 and had its first flight on May 26, 1983. The 125-800 series proved to be successful on the market. It took nineteen years until the 500th BAe 125 airframe was sold, while in a little over five years British Aerospace were registering the 200th sale of the 800 series. The Hawker 800SP was introduced in 1984. The design of the Hawker 800SP is essentially the same as the Hawker 800A, with the exception of added winglets. Winglets by Aviation Partners Inc. allow the Model 800SP to fly 30 minutes longer, 180 nm farther, 18 knots faster, and a 2000 foot higher cruise altitude. Hot-and-high airport performance is improved, and its power-to-weight ratio also allows for access to shorter runways. A total of 650 of this type of aircraft were built by the time production ceased in 2013.
