Mataveri Airport is a regional commercial airport that doubles as a busy private-aviation base. Operators benefit from full instrument approaches and an FBO infrastructure scaled for regular jet traffic, often without the congestion of the nearest major hub.
Mataveri Airport sits near sea level at 227 ft.
Local operations run on Pacific/Easter. Scheduled airline service is light enough that it rarely interferes with charter movements, though planners should still expect to coordinate with the handling agent for international turnarounds.
SkyAccess inventory for SCIP updates continuously as operators publish new empty legs and one-way repositioning trips. Pricing on each leg is available with a free account, and an inventory alert will email you the moment a leg appears on the route you care about.
Use this page to compare SCIP against nearby alternatives, browse live empty-leg pricing in both directions, and brief yourself on the runway and elevation profile before you book.
Mataveri International Airport or Isla de Pascua Airport is an airport in Hanga Roa, on Easter Island in Chile. It is the most remote airport in the world, defined by distance to another airport, it is located approximately 3,759 kilometres slightly northwest of Santiago, the capital of Chile. It has scheduled flights to Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport in Santiago operated by Chilean carrier LATAM Chile. The runway starts just inland from the island's southeast coast at Mataveri, and nearly reaches the west coast, almost separating the mountain of Rano Kau from the rest of the island. The airport is the main point of entry for visitors to Easter Island. It has a transit lounge that was formerly used by passengers continuing to or returning from Papeete, Tahiti, which was served by LATAM until June 2020.
