The Bombardier Challenger 604, part of the Challenger 600 series, is a renowned business jet manufactured by Bombardier Aerospace. This series boasts 1,600 aircraft in service, with a remarkable 7.3 million flight hours over 4.3 million flights. Introduced in 1995, the 604 quickly became a standout variant. With over 4 million flight hours and a dispatch reliability of over 99%, the Bombardier Challenger 604 exemplifies the advancements and reliability expected in the long-range business jet market.
Certified in 1995, the Bombardier Challenger 604 combines range, speed, sophistication, and style. It is powered by General Electric CF34-3B engines, delivering 8,729 pounds of thrust, enabling the aircraft to travel up to 4,024 nautical miles under NBAA IFR with four passengers. Enhancements include increased fuel capacity, an updated undercarriage for higher takeoff and landing weights, and advanced Rockwell Collins PrecisionPlus avionics.
The cabin design of the aircraft mirrors that of its predecessor, the 601-3A and -3R, featuring a 28.3-foot interior length and nearly 17 feet of available cabin space. The cabin, with a volume of 1,150 cubic feet, accommodates up to nineteen passengers depending on the configuration. The stand-up height and over 8 feet of width provide ample space, making it comfortable for 10-12 passengers despite a maximum capacity of 19. Configurations include a double-club or forward club/half club/divan arrangement. Its intercontinental range is complemented by a deluxe galley, lavatory, and exceptionally low noise levels, enhancing passenger comfort.
Production of the Bombardier Challenger 604 ended in 2005, with 365 jets built. Today, 363 remain operational, with 8.8% available for sale. North America is the largest operator, housing 64% of the fleet, followed by Europe at 20% and Asia at 10%. A significant number of this aircraft serve government agencies, including the Royal Danish Air Force, highlighting their versatility and reliability.
