After the success of their Citation Excel and XLS models, Cessna Aircraft Company decided to create the Citation XLS+, which featured several major improvements in performance. The Citation XLS+ is mid-sized jet and the third of the Excel series. It was FAA certified and began delivery in 2008. The Citation XLS+ is powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW54C engines with 4,119 pounds of thrust, allowing the jet to have a range of 1,719 nm under NBAA IFR with 4 passengers. The updated design features Collins Pro Line 21 glass-panel avionics, four screen LCD EFIS displays, and an extended contour of the nose to improve aerodynamics. The cabin volume is 577 cubic feet, seating up to nine passengers and 2 crew members. Cessna Aircraft Company continues to produce Citation XLS+ aircraft today. A total of 261 jets have been built since 2008, and 256 of these are currently in operation.
