Nuevo Chaitén Airport

Nuevo Chaitén Airport (SCTN) is a medium airport in Chaitén, Chile. Pilots and dispatchers reference it by ICAO code SCTN or IATA code WCH. It sits in South America.

Nuevo Chaitén Airport is a regional airport primarily serving general aviation, charter, and corporate flight departments.

Nuevo Chaitén Airport sits near sea level at 95 ft.

Local operations run on America/Santiago. Without scheduled airline traffic, the field tends to be quieter and more flexible for charter and corporate operations — a useful characteristic for early morning, late night, or short-notice flights that would be impractical at a hub.

SkyAccess inventory for SCTN updates continuously as operators publish new empty legs and one-way repositioning trips. Pricing on each leg is available with a free account, and an inventory alert will email you the moment a leg appears on the route you care about.

Use this page to compare SCTN against nearby alternatives, browse live empty-leg pricing in both directions, and brief yourself on the runway and elevation profile before you book.

Nuevo Chaitén Airport Spanish: Aeródromo Nuevo Chaitén, is an airport serving the town of Chaitén and other communities in northern Chilean Patagonia such as Palena and Futaleufú. The airport replaced Chaitén Airfield, which was damaged beyond repair after the 2008 eruption of the Chaitén Volcano. The new airport is 18 kilometres (11 mi) northwest of town. After construction began on Nuevo Chaitén Airport in 2013, it assumed the ICAO and IATA codes of the closed airport.
