SkyAccess Cancellation and Refund Policy Explained

Empty leg flights are priced low for a reason: the operator needs to move an aircraft that’s already flying. That pricing dynamic comes with a booking structure that differs from commercial aviation. Before you book, you should understand what happens if a flight changes, cancels, or doesn’t confirm.

This page explains, in plain terms, how cancellations and refunds work when you book through SkyAccess, and where to find the terms that apply to your booking. The binding terms are the SkyAccess Terms of Service and the cancellation and refund policy shown for each listing before you book.

The short version

Cancellation terms vary by operator. Each operator has its own cancellation and refund policy, and that policy is disclosed before you book, so review it before you complete a booking. If an operator modifies or cancels a listed flight, SkyAccess will notify you; cancellation and refund terms depend on the operator’s policy for that listing.

How booking confirmation works

SkyAccess operates an online marketplace for private charter flights. Some flights are confirmed when you complete checkout. Other flights must be confirmed by the operator after you request them, and you are not charged until the operator confirms.

An empty leg exists because the aircraft is repositioning; if the primary trip that created the empty leg is cancelled or modified, the empty leg can change or be cancelled with it. This reflects how charter aviation works across the industry, which is why the operator’s policy is shown before you book.

What happens at each stage:

  • Requested: For flights that need operator confirmation, your request is with the operator. You are not charged until the operator confirms.
  • Confirmed: The booking is confirmed, either when you complete checkout or when the operator confirms your request. Your booking is for the whole aircraft.
  • Modified or canceled by the operator: SkyAccess will notify you. Cancellation and refund terms depend on the operator’s policy for that listing, which is disclosed before booking.

A request sent through a third-party AI assistant, such as the SkyAccess connector, is an inquiry, not a booking, and it creates no obligation to pay. A SkyAccess specialist confirms availability and price with you directly.

If the operator cancels or changes your flight

SkyAccess, the marketplace, is not the operator. SkyAccess Inc. is not an air carrier and does not operate aircraft. Flights are operated by independent charter operators certified under FAA Part 135 or the international equivalent, and the operator of each flight has operational control of it.

If an operator modifies or cancels a listed flight, SkyAccess will notify you. What you get back depends on the operator’s cancellation and refund policy for that listing, which is disclosed before booking. Read it before you book.

If an operator cancels a paid booking, SkyAccess tells you right away and a specialist starts sourcing a replacement aircraft on the same route; if nothing suits, you choose a full refund or flight credit.

What if you need to cancel

Each operator has its own cancellation and refund policy, and it is disclosed before you book. Review it before you complete a booking, because it differs from operator to operator.

When SkyAccess may cancel an order

Under the SkyAccess Terms of Service, SkyAccess reserves the right to refuse or cancel an order, including where information in the service turns out to be inaccurate, for example an error in pricing or availability. If SkyAccess makes a change to or cancels an order, it may attempt to notify you using the email, billing address or phone number you provided when you ordered. See Sections 6 and 11 of the Terms of Service for the full wording.

SkyAccess versus traditional charter brokers

With a traditional charter broker, you typically request a quote and wait for pricing before you can book. On SkyAccess, you browse listed flights, see the operator’s cancellation and refund policy before you book, and book directly.

The tradeoff is the nature of empty leg availability. Empty legs typically run 25 to 75% below a comparable full charter, and that price comes with the understanding that operator schedules can shift.

Frequently asked questions

Will I get a refund if my flight is canceled?

It depends on the operator’s cancellation and refund policy for that listing, which is disclosed before you book. If an operator modifies or cancels a listed flight, SkyAccess will notify you.

What if the flight never gets confirmed?

For flights that must be confirmed by the operator after you request them, you are not charged until the operator confirms.

Can I cancel after the flight is confirmed?

Cancellations follow the operator’s cancellation and refund policy for that listing, which is disclosed before booking. Policies vary by operator, so check the terms before you book.

Is SkyAccess the operator?

No. SkyAccess Inc. operates an online marketplace and is not an air carrier. Every flight is operated by an independent charter operator certified under FAA Part 135 or the international equivalent, and the operator of each flight has operational control of it.

Where are the full terms?

The SkyAccess Terms of Service govern your use of SkyAccess, and the operator’s cancellation and refund policy for each listing is shown before you book. Questions about the Terms of Service can be sent to contact@skyaccess.com.

The bottom line

Empty leg flights offer genuine savings (typically 25 to 75% below a comparable full charter) because they’re tied to operator schedules. Cancellation and refund terms are set by each operator and disclosed before you book, SkyAccess notifies you if an operator modifies or cancels a listed flight, and for flights that need operator confirmation you are not charged until the operator confirms.

If you’re evaluating whether to book an empty leg for the first time, read the operator’s cancellation and refund policy on the listing before you book, and keep your plans flexible.
