By 1994, the Citation II and S/II had been in production for 10 years, and it was time to integrate new technology. Cessna thus announced the development of the Citation Bravo. The new aircraft first flew on April 25, 1995, but certification did not come for over a year, finally being granted in August 1996 and delivered in February 1997. Production of the Bravo ceased in late 2006, when it was replaced by the Citation CJ3. 337 had been produced, and about 333 remained in operation as of 2015. Today, the Cessna Citation Bravo market is 100% pre-owned. The average days for a Bravo to remain on the market are 334, while the percentage of sale is 12.3%. Costs of a 1997 model average about $1.75M, while the 2006 model is about $2.9M. North America is the world's largest operating Citation Bravo aircraft holder with 66%, while Europe has 15%. 13% of operating Bravo Jets are in fleet ownership, with NetJets Europe Ltd. holding seven aircraft. While it was built on the basic Citation II airframe, the new Bravo aircraft was powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PW530A engines. The main landing gear was replaced by the smoother-riding trailing link configuration adopted by other members of the Citation line, and the standard avionics suite was updated to the Honeywell Primus 1000 glass cockpit. Its two PW530A engines produce 2,887 pounds of thrust each, causing a maximum operating altitude of 45,000 feet, and a superlative cruise speed of around 400 KTAS. The cabin volume for the Citation Bravo is 278 cubic feet, usually comprised of nine passenger and two crew seats.
