The Beechcraft King Air family is part of a line of twin-turboprop aircraft produced by Beechcraft. The King Air line of aircraft is comprised of a number of models that have been divided into two families; the Model 90 and 100 series are known as King Airs, while the Model 200 and 300 series were originally marketed as Super King Airs. Since production began in 1964, over 3,100 aircraft have been built. Production is currently still active, giving the Beechcraft King Air the longest continual production run of any civilian aircraft of its class. Several variants of the original design were created, including the Model A90, B90, and C90. The Model C90 was introduced in 1971 after the production of more than 180 King Air B90 aircraft. The King Air C90 was designed with an increased wingspan of 50 ft 3 in. It also featured an increased takeoff weight and PT6A-21 engines with 50 shp. The cabin environment and pressurization system were inspired by that of the previous King Air 100; the typical cabin configuration is an executive arrangement with six to seven passenger seats. The cockpit is commonly equipped a with Collins Pro Line avionics system, including dual DME 40, dual VHF 20A communication, dual VIR 30A navigation, dual TDR 90 transponders, a WXR 270 CLR weather radar, an APS 65 autopilot, and an ADS 65 flight director. Production of the King Air C90 ended in 1982, with a total of 507 aircraft being built. Following the end of production, the Model C90-1 entered production. Several additional variants were developed, including the Model C90A, Model C90B, C90GT, and C90GTi. Primary operators include the United States Army, United States Navy, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, and Philippine Navy.
