The Hawker Aerospace 125 is a mid-size business jet manufactured by Hawker Beechcraft in 1963. It proved successful in North America, as well as within the Royal Air Force. Recent variants are marketed as Hawker 800s, of which there are more specific variants, including the Hawker 1000A. The Hawker Series 1000 is an intercontinental version of the 800 Model with increase fuel capacity. Its first flight took place on June 16, 1990, and it entered production in 1993. Unique to the Hawker 1000 is that it can come in a traditional or a biomorphic design. The biomorphic design has smooth curves and is supposed to increase passenger comfort and useful space. The cabin stretches to 24.4 feet long (not including the cockpit), 5.8 feet high, and 6 feet wide. It is usually configured to hold eight seats but can hold as many as eight. The cockpit is equipped with Dual Honeywell FZ-800 Flight Director, Honeywell SPX-8000 dual-channel fail-operational digital flight system, Primus 870 Doppler turbulence system, and WX-970 Weather Radar. The Hawker 1000A is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW305 turbofan engines, providing 5,255 pounds of thrust each on takeoff. A new design to reduce engine noise puts out the exhaust at a slower velocity, thus producing only 90 EPNdB for a noise footprint of 1.6 square miles. Though underpowered at its introduction to the market, it still is being utilized around the globe. After six years of production, the Hawker 1000A was discontinued, largely due to its $12.695 million unit price that was almost 3 million more than the Hawker 800XP. A total of 52 airplanes were built.
