SkyAccess Data & Research: Original Private Aviation Market Data
SkyAccess publishes original data journalism about the private aviation market, built from the marketplace itself: empty leg listings recorded across our network of 900+ certified charter operators. This page is the index of what we publish, how we verify it, and how to use it.
What we publish
The Empty Leg Index (monthly; August edition). The busiest private jet repositioning corridors in the United States and internationally, ranked by what actually flies on the marketplace. A new edition publishes at the start of each month.
Every US State Ranked by Private Jet Empty Leg Activity. All 50 states plus the District of Columbia ranked by empty leg volume, with the busiest airport named in each state: 381,278 marketplace listings over a trailing 12 month window.
Nearly 5,000 Empty Private Jet Legs Were Listed Across the Atlantic in a Year. 4,891 Atlantic empty legs over 12 months of SkyAccess marketplace listings, with Teterboro to Luton the single biggest US to Europe pair and an eastbound peak in June.
The Median Empty Leg Appears Just 3.2 Days Before Takeoff. Lead time from first listing to scheduled departure across 518,350 SkyAccess marketplace listings, with aircraft category medians and a December through April window when lead times run shortest.

Our methodology standards
Every figure in a SkyAccess data story follows the same rules.
- Marketplace data, clearly attributed. Counts are empty leg listings published on the SkyAccess marketplace, not FAA operations counts, and every story says so. Where a listing touches two states or two airports, the double counting rule is disclosed.
- No estimates dressed as measurements. We publish counts, corridors, seasonality, and listed price distributions. We do not publish modeled savings percentages or projected market sizes as findings.
- A methodology section in every story, including the arithmetic behind any derived comparison, the data window, and what was excluded and why.
- Independent fact checking before publication, including verification of airport names, codes, and external facts against FAA records at publish time.
Citation policy
All figures are citable with attribution to SkyAccess and a link to the source story. No permission needed. If a figure looks surprising, ask us to walk you through the query behind it: we would rather explain a number than have it used wrong.
Custom data pulls for journalists
